Thanksgiving for the Large Family!

My third oldest daughter is away at college so we were minus one this year but it was still a wild and crazy time!

Our Thanksgiving Menu was as follows:

Baked Turkey

Fried Turkey

Macaroni N Cheese

Broccoli Casserole

Sweet Potato Casserole

Pecan Pie

Pumpkin Pie

We make most of the food on Wednesday except the Turkeys, it makes for a more fun and less stressful Thanksgiving for me. Each one of my girls are assigned a dish, which also makes for a less stressful day before Thanksgiving.

I love Thanksgiving! It is my favorite holiday. The expectations are so low. I don’t have to spend days buying the right gifts, wrapping and decorating. It is really all about family time and eating and being thankful for family and having food to eat.

Our day starts out with a big breakfast and watching the parade. I was so glad the floats were able to fly this year.

Not sure what was on when this was taken, maybe the “Kinky Boots” dance!

After the parade, we went to our local hospital and delivered boxes of goodies to those who have to work on a holiday when many are at home enjoying themselves.

It was fun and we always love getting the stares and questions.

After we return home it is an afternoon filled with snacking on a homemade cheese ball that is out of this world, crackers, chips, salsa, Flaming Hot Cheetos and picture taking.  My girls love taking picture of each other and I think a little of themselves. Here are just a few:

Under the Kitchen Sink Organization

I really really don’t like clutter and when you live in a home with 15 other people, clutter creeps up on you very quickly. I am constantly fighting “hotspots” as Flylady would call them.  Everything has a place in my home but everyone doesn’t always put everything in its place. I have found scissors in […]

Tagzedo Anyone?

tagxedo 2

A Friend just introduced me to clouds with style. Tagxedo turns words — famous speeches, news articles, slogans and themes, even your love letters — into a visually stunning word cloud, words individually sized appropriately to highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text. Here is a few of my blog! You can […]

Pancakes from Scratch

A late sleeper I am not.  I have tried, but my body will not co-operate. Even if I stay up late and get up during the night, there is something within my brain that says to my body it is time to get up when the sun comes up. My girls do not like […]

Doritos Taco Salad without dishes!

Every Sunday evening we host a “Home Group” in our home. We’ve gone through several Bible Studies, with the current one being, “Christian” by Andy Stanley. This home group consists of all my older girls along with some of their friends. Can I tell you how discouraged I have become over the lack of attention […]

A Quick Mouse Pad

So I was surfing the web the other day looking for a new crafty project when I came across a post on creating your own mouse pad. The wheels began turning as I use a mouse with my laptop cause I just hate using the touch pad! I have a mouse but I am usually […]

Family Room Makeover

When you have a family as big as ours it is a good idea to have a big comfortable family room. We moved into this home a little over a year ago and I cannot say our family room was family comfortable. I had to dig back through some old pictures but finally found one […]
